Pioneers Roll By Albany Pharmacy

Five Pioneers finished in double figures and all ten players that dressed scored as Alfred State rolled to a 93-65 over Albany Pharmacy on Saturday night. The Pioneers even their record at 10-10 with five game remaining in the regular season.

Neither team got the offense going early on as the Pioneers held the slight 12-11 lead with 11:43 remaining. With the Pioneers led by four, 18-14, before they went on a huge run to put the game out reach. The Pioneers finished the final 11 minutes of the half on a 30-13 run to lead by 21 at the break. Dante Jordan (New York/Law & Public) led the way in the 1st with 10 while Tyrone Freeman (Bronx/Wings Academy) had nine and Ryan Gentile (Spencerport) had eight.

The Pioneers didn't allow the Panthers to make any comeback attempts in the 2nd half as they added to their lead and led by as many as 30. Gentile had 10 in the 2nd half while Tahaij Lewis (Rochester/Greece Olympia) and Owen Spencer (Perry) each had nine.

Gentile hit four 3-pointers and led all scorers with 18 points. Lewis finished with 15 points and nine boards, Spencer chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, and Jordan finished with 12 points and eight boards. Freeman came off the bench and finished in double figures with 11. 

The Pioneers shot 54.3% from the field in the 1st half and finished the game 33 for 67 (49.3%). The connected on eleven 3-pointers and held a 50 to 30 advantage on the boards.

Kyle Matousek led the Panthers (8-9) with 15. Thomas Chalker added 13 and Phil Georgio added 10 off the bench. Albany Pharmacy shot 36.1% from the field for the game (22 for 61).
