Pioneers Can't Overcome Slow Start

The Alfred State men's basketball team fell behind early and could never fully recover in a 79-62 loss at Pitt Greensburg on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 21-4 lead in the first eight minutes and led by as many as 22 in the half before the Pioneers rallied and trailed 38-24 at the half. UPG pushed the lead out to as many as 26 in the 2nd half. The Pioneers did end the game on a 20-11 run to close out the game.

Josh Reding (Spencerport) was 8 for 9 from the foul line and led the team with 14 points while Ryan Gentile (Spencerport) finished with 13. Brandon Gosley (Valley Stream South) chipped in six points and seven boards.

Jojo France led four Bobcats in double figures with 15 poings while Cody Spaid finished with 12 points and eight boards. Torian Jenkins had 11 and Cam Seigfreid chipped in 10.

The Pioneers begin the final week of the season on Wednesday when they host Medaille at 6 p.m.
