The Alfred State Men's Basketball team won today's match-up against Cazenovia 77-73. After dropping the first game of the Route 20 Classic, the Pioneers came back and earned a victory to finish their weekend.
After being down 40-36 at the half, Alfred State had a strong second half performance to come back and get a win. Tying the game at 51 with 14:38 left, Alfred State took a lead on a Ryan Rosa (Middletown, NY / Middletown) jump shot and didn't look back. Keeping the lead through the rest of the game, the Cody Schneider (Belmont, NY / Genesee Valley) hit late-game free throws to seal the deal.
Dylan Perry (Kingston, NY / Kingston) was the leading Pioneer scorer with 20 points on 7-15 shooting. It is Perry's second game with 20+ points, proving his offensive prowess early in the season. Ryan Rosa had 17 points and went 8-10 from the field. Cody Schneider recorded a double-double today, making it two in a row for the Pioneer center. The Pioneer defense forced 11 turnovers by the Wildcats and Gus O'Connell (Cortland, NY / Bishop Grimes) had a team-leading four steals.
Alfred State is back in action at home in Orvis Gymnasium on Tuesday, November 22, against the Geneseo Knights at 5:30 p.m.
