Pioneers Drop Close Game

The Alfred State Men's Basketball team dropped today's game 85-78 against former conference rival Medaille.

The Pioneers and the Mavericks were tied at 39 at halftime. Alfred State jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first five minutes and kept the lead until Medaille crawled back to tie with three minutes remaining in the half.

 A quick burst from the Mavericks gave them the lead at the start of the second. Paris Jamison (Brooklyn, NY / East Side) made a layup with 14 minutes left to put Alfred State back in the lead. The game was neck-and-neck, tied with 2 minutes remaining, before Medaille pulled away earning the victory.

Four Pioneers in total were in double digits. Cody Schneider (Belmont, NY / Genesee Valley) was the Pioneers leading scorer with 18 points. Schneider also notched two steals and three boards. Isaiah Kostyal- Larrier (Poughkeepsie, NY / Arlington) had 16 points off the bench. Kostyal- Larrier snagged seven rebounds and three assists and knocked down 3 three-pointers. Dylan Perry (Kingston, NY / Kingston) and Paris Jamison both tallied 14 points. Perry went 5-10 from the field and tallied three boards. Jamison went 7-12 from the field and had five rebounds.

The Pioneers are back in action on January 4, in the first conference game of the season at Penn St.- Altoona.
