Pioneers Doubled Up by FLCC

The Alfred State lacrosse team finally opened up the home portion of their season but could not overcome a slow start and fell 16-8 to Finger Lakes CC.  The Lakers took a 7-1 lead and never trailed by less than five goals the rest of the way.

Keegan Phalen (East Aurora) led the blue & gold with three goals and an assist while Bradley Murdoch (Auburn) had three goals.  Phalen and Murdoch both picked up six ground balls as well.  Frank Martin (Whitney Point) and Nate Spoor (Penn Yan) each found the back of the net once while Brandon Griffin (Corning East) was credited with an assist.

Mike Alessi (Liverpool) made 15 saves in net for the Pioneers.

Robert Pelkey led the Lakers with seven goals and an assist while Parker Weeks had a goal and seven assists.  John Perucci made nine saves in net.

The Pioneers trailed 5-1 after the 1st, 10-5 at half, and 12-6 after three quarter.  The blue & gold struggled on the man-up finishing 0-6 on the day.

Alfred returns to action on Friday when they host CCBC (MD) Catonsville in a non-league match-up.
