Eight Spring Pioneers Earn USCAA All-Academic Honors

Eight Alfred State spring athletes have earned USCAA All-Academic team honors. Student-athletes earn All-Academic honors by being an upperclassmen who has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher over the course of their academic career.

The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) recently accepted Alfred State as an affiliate member in men's lacrosse, men's and women's swimming & diving, and baseball. The Pioneers will begin play in men's lacrosse and swimming & diving in 2016-17 and in baseball in 2017-18.

The NCAA DIII Membership Committee recently announced that Alfred State has satisfied the requirements of year two of the membership process and will move on to year three in 2016-17.

Alfred State lacrosse player Aaron Buck (Churchville) and baseball player Conner Odonoghue (Avon) both picked up another honor following solid performances last week. Buck was named the ECAC Metro/Upstate offensive player of the week while Odonoghue was named the USCAA pitcher of the week.

Alfred State fell just short in a hard fought 13-10 contest vs. SUNY Canton in the championship game of the USCAA Classic. The Kangaroos outscored the Pioneers 5-1 in the deciding 3rd quarter.

Aaron Buck (Churchville) recorded six points as the Alfred State lacrosse team fell 17-10 at SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon. The Kangaroos used a 7-1 advantage in the 2nd quarter to take control of the contest.
