The Alfred State scored six goals in the first 11:21 of the game and scored the first eight goals of the game as they won their second straight 14-4 over Franciscan (OH). With the victory, their second straight, the Pioneers even their record at 3-3.

Nic Covelli (Carmel) started off his big day with a first tally of the day 2:05 into the contest. AJ Soto (Churchville Chili) scored just under four minutes later after getting a pass from Eric Passeck (Thomaston, CT). Joe Johnson (Churchville Chili) netted his first after getting a pass from Tristan Badger (Rush Henrietta) with 7:42 left in the quarter, and Tyler Baker (Rome Free) scored 25 seconds later to make it 4-0. Passeck scored his first with 4:31 left and Soto scored an extra man goal after getting a pass from Johnson to make it 6-0 with just under four left.

Covelli and Johnson found the back of the net in the 20th minute of the game (Covelli picked up the assist on Johnson's goal) to make it 8-0. Peter Laville scored twice and Covelli finished his hat trick with a goal to account for the rest of the scoring in the 1st half. The Pioneers first 21 shots in the 1st half while Matt Cobb (Churchville Chili) made four saves in net.

The 2nd half didn't feature as much offense. Covelli and Johnson teamed up for a pair of scoring plays in the quarter and Baker scored after getting a pass from Covelli as the Pioneers outscored the Barons 3-1. Soto and Covelli scored in the 4th to make it 14-3 before Franciscan capped the scoring.

Alfred State outshot Franciscan 19 to 12 in the 2nd half and finished with a 40 to 25 advantage in the game. Cobb finished the day with eight saves in net.

Covelli led the Pioneers with eight points as he scored six goals and passed out two assists. Johnson finished with two goals and five assists, soto had a hat trick, and Baker scored a pair. Johnson and Scott Fingar (Penn Yan) both had six ground balls to lead the team.

Laville led the Barons (0-7) with two goals while Jonathan Lee was 14 for 21 in face-offs.

The Pioneers are right back in action on Monday afternoon when they host Cazenovia. Opening faceoff at Pioneer Stadium is slated for 5 p.m.
