Pioneers Fall at Elmira in Season Opener

The Alfred State lacrosse team fell 12-1 at Elmira in their 2020 season opener.

The Soaring Eagles scored six unanswered goals in to open the game before AJ Soto (Churchville Chili) got the Pioneers on the board with an unassisted goal with just under five minutes left in the 1st half. Elmira went into halftime with a 7-1 lead. The Eagles got a pair of goals by Sam Shaw, who finished with a game high four tallies, as they kept the Pioneers off the board the rest of the way.

Matt Cobb (Churchville Chili) made nine saves in net for the blue & gold while Tucker Sutphen (Brockport) led the team with 10 groundballs.

The Pioneers head to King's College on Saturday for a 1 p.m. battle with the Monarchs.
