Pioneers Fall in Final Road Test

Houghton scored a goal in each half as they defeated Alfred State 2-0 in a cross county battle. The Highlanders improve to 5-9 on the season with the victory.

With just over five minutes left in the 1st half, Kyle Brown got Houghton on the board with his first goal of the season. Zack Shilvock and Kenneth Estep were credited with the assists. Houghton held a 8-5 shot advantage in the half.

Gabe Vanwyk netted his fourth goal of the season in the 73rd minute when he lofted a shot past the keeper after getting a pass from Ben Dicrasto. The Pioneers held a 6-5 shot advantage.

Caleb Loew made fives saves for the Highlanders to record the shutout while Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) made four saves for the blue & gold.

 
 

The Pioneers begin their final week of the season on Tuesday when they host Pitt-Bradford. The contest is slated for a 7 p.m. start at Pioneer Stadium.
