Pioneers Ready for AMCC Swimming and Diving Championships

The Alfred State swimming & diving teams are heading to Erie, PA this week with high expectations as they compete in the 2019 AMCC Championships at Penn State Behrend. 

The male trio of Ethan Dale (Lock Haven, PA), Tim Olin (Perry), and Austin Miller (Hornell) will be counted on to lead the way for the Pioneers.

  • Dale enters the meet with the 3rd best time in the 400 IM (4:22.33), 3rd in the 200 breast (2:13.04), 4th in the 100 breast (1:01.91), 6th in the 200 IM (2:05.67), and 7th in the 200 fly (2:11.1).
  • Olin is ranked 3rd in the 100 back (55.19), 3rd in the 200 back (2:04.85), and 4th in the 50 free (22.75).
  • Miller is the top ranked diver in the 1m (351.40) and 3m (392.05 points) competition.

Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chili), Ryan McDowell (Gananda), and Nate Miller (Gananda) along with senior diver Jackson Teboe (Falconer) will also be counted on to pick up big points. The success of the relay teams and the depth of the team will also be key factors to overall team placing.

Alfred State finished 2-2 in AMCC dual meets during the regular season and earned first place finishes in the Erie CC Invitational and the Pioneer Invitational.

Action starts on Wednesday (2/13) at 1 p.m. with the first session of diving. Swimming events begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday features 10 a.m. preliminaries, 1 p.m. diving, and 6 p.m. finals. The AMCC Champion and year end awards will be announced on Saturday evening following the last event.
