2nd Place Finish for Pioneer Men

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team finished 2nd in the AMCC Championship standings for the third time in the past four years.

The Pioneers recorded four top ten finishes in individual events on the final day of the four day event. Matt Walker (Kenmore West) was 4th in the 200 breast (2:11.84), Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) was 5th in the 200 back (1:54.97), Nate Miller (Gananda) was 7th in the 100 free (48.33), and Anthony Kahwaty (Jefferson Township, NJ) was 9th in the 200 breast (2:16.28).

Austin Eckrich (Churchville Chili) had a personal best and was 13th in the 1650 free (17:42.99).

In the final event of the competition, the 400 free relay team Perry, Miller, Walker, and Stuart Yates (Naples) finished 4th overall and 2nd in the AMCC with a time of 3:13.80.

The Pioneers scored 458 points in the AMCC standings and finished only behind Penn State Behrend. In the overall Allegany Empire Championship standings, the blue & gold accumulated 762 points to earn 5th place.

Austin Miller was named the AMCC Diver of the Meet for the second straight year and head coach Mike Smiechowski was named the coach of the meet.
