Men’s Swimming and Diving are First Team to Record Undefeated Regular Season in DIII Era for Alfred State
The Alfred State men's swimming and diving team defeated Roberts Wesleyan 168-35 and broke six pool records at the Voller Athletic Center on Saturday to finish their regular season 7-0.
The Pioneers are the first of any Alfred State team to finish their regular season going undefeated in the Division III era.
The men's 400-yard medley relay of Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood), Stuart Yates (Naples), Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK) and Collin Vimislik (Fairport) set a new pool record with a time of 4:21.46.
Yates set another pool record in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 59.33.
Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ) set two pool records in the 200-yard free (1:49.12) and the 100-yard butterfly (51.59).
Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH) also set two pool records in the 50-yard free (21.26) and the 100-yard free (48.46).
Other top performers include:
- Henry Schafer (Warsaw/Notre Dame) won the 1000-yard free (10:41.37).
- Jack Friedah (York/West York) won the 200-yard IM (2:07.38) and the 100-yard backstroke (56.66).
- Austin Miller (Hornell) won the 1-meter diving (241.73).
- Westin won the 500-yard free (4:57.94).
- The 200-yard free relay of Micah Schwartz (Ithaca), Matthew Perez (Merrick/Calhoun), Parker Brod (East Aurora) and Dillon Madigan (Waverly) won in a time of 1:34.74.
The men are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 16 for the start of the AMCC Championships at the Webster Aquatics Center.
