Pioneers Fall to Geneseo

The Alfred State Men's Swimming and Diving team lost todays meet against Geneseo. The Pioneers had their first head-to-head loss of the season, falling to a strong Geneseo team.

Avenn Toledo (San Diego, CA / San Marcos) continued his impressive season with another win today. In the 1000-yard freestyle Toledo swam a 10:04.55 time. He finished 16 seconds quicker than the second-place time. Toledo also won the 500-yard freestyle by four seconds. He finished with a time of 4:53.22.

Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ / Northern Burlington) put a winning event together for Alfred State. He finished and won the 100-yard fly with a time of 51.53.

Westin Perry (Hartsville, NY / Canisteo Greenwood) won the 100-yard backstroke event. His time of 53.41 bested the second-place finisher by half a second.

The 200-yard medley was a strong shoring for the Pioneer team. Westin Perry (Wrightstown, NJ / Northern Burlington) Stuart Yates, Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ / Northern Burlington) and Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH / N. Royalton) teamed up for a 1:36.85 time. The time was good enough for a second-place finish, half a second in front of the Geneseo 'B' foursome.

Conor Compton (Rexford, NY / Niskayuna) came in third place in the 1m dive. Compton racked up a score of 300.83. Compton finished one spot higher on the 3m board. His total score of 311.40 was 24 less than the first place Geneseo diver.

The Pioneers are back in the pool on January 14, when they host Nazareth at home.
