Pioneers Sweep Tri-Meet

The Alfred State Men's Swimming and Diving Team won today's tri-meet against Fredonia and Brockport. The Pioneers defeated Brockport 226-65. And the Pioneers defeated Fredonia 223-46 on the day as well.

The Pioneer men won events throughout the day. Conor Compton (Rexford, NY / Niskayuna) continued his impressive season with another 1m and 3m dive pair of wins. In the 1m, Compton posted a 312.75, beating the second-best diver by more than 30 points. In the 3m, he put up a 319.70, winning by more than 40 points.

Some winners from the swim meet include:

The 200-medley relay pairing of Westin Perry (Hartsville, NY / Canisteo Greenwood), Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH / N. Royalton), Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ / Northern Burlington) and Stuart Yates (Naples, NY / Naples). The team finished with a time of 1:36.92. All four Pioneers also won individual events. Perry won the 200 backstroke and the 100 free. Yates won the 100 and 200 breaststroke events. Luca Aldewereld won the 50 free. Fletcher won the 100 fly by more than three seconds with a time of 51.56.

Avenn Toledo (San Diego, CA / San Marcos) won the 1000 freestyle event by more than 20 seconds with a time of 10:18.60. Toledo also tacked on a win in the 500 free race.

The Pioneers are back in action on Wednesday February 15, as they head to the AMCC Championships.
