Kemsley Wins Twice at Houghton

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) won two events as the Alfred State men's indoor track & field team opened up the 2019 portion of their season at the Houghton Highlander Invitational.

Kemsley won the weight throw with a mark of 17.15 m. His mark is a new career best and a new Alfred State record. He also won the shot put with a toss of 14.18 m.

Jesse Johnson was tied for 2nd in the high jump with a leap of 1.83 m while Derek Stein was tied for 4th (1.83 m) and Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) was 6th (1.78 m). Wadsworth was also 8th in the long jump (6.28 m).

Cameron Howard (Brockport) was 7th in the 60 m dash (7.34) while Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 10th in the pole vault (3.95 m).

The distance medley relay team of Jacob Drew (Corning Painted Post), Matthew Connolly (Elmira Notre Dame), Ryan Lohr (West Seneca), and Joe Kretschmar (Phoenix, AZ) was 3rd in 12:06.72. The 4x200 relay team of Howard, Benjamin Starr (Worcester), Johnson, and Stein finished 8th in 1:42.13.

The Pioneers are back in action next weekend when they travel to Brockport. Multi action starts on Friday afternoon while the Brockport Invitational starts on Saturday.
