Wadsworth Leads Heptathlon After Day One of ECAC Championships

Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) sits in 2st place with 2,597 points after day one of the pentathlon at the 2019 ECAC Championships. The Pioneers are competing with over 30 teams at the Armory in New York City.
 
Wadsworth leads the field of eight athletes competing in the indoor multi. He scored 775 points in the 60 m dash (7.31), 723 points in the long jump (6.61 m), and 723 points in the high jump (1.91 m). Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) is in 4th with 2,200 points, Jesse Johnson is 5th (2,120), and Derek Stein is 6th (2,101).
 
Emily Brigman (Lancaster) finished 5th in the pentathlon with 2,489 points. She scored 738 points in the 60 hurdles (9.86) and 644 points in the high jump (1.52 m). Marissa Sly (N. Tonawanda) finished 8th (1,903) and Julia Yanarella (Wappinger Falls/Roy Ketcham) was 9th (1,612).

The women's distance medley relay team of Katherine Frascella (Franklinville), Katherine O'Buckley (Queens/Francis Lewis), Veronica Dailey (Addison), and Yanarella finished 3rd in 14:45.30.
 
Michael Allender (Lew-Port) qualified for the 60 m finals with a 7th place finish in the preliminaries. He crossed the finish line in 7.16
 
Action resumes tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. when the heptathlon continues. Allender and Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) will also be in action.
