Emma Taggart (New Windsor, MD) and Jacob Wadsworth (Dansville) had solid days as Alfred State competed in day one of the All Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships held at Nazereth College.
Taggart improved her school record with a 2nd place finish in the pentathlon. She scored 3,013 points over the five events. She scored 759 points by winning the high jump (1.62 m), scored 756 points with a run of 9.77 in the 60 m hurdles, and 501 points when she finished 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 9.57 m. Her 3,013 points was 262 more points from her previous best in the event.
Wadsworth leads the way after day one of competition in the heptathlon. He leads the field of 12 competitors with 2,868 points. He recorded the best time in the 60 m dash (7.09) to earn 851 points and had the best performance in the long jump (7.05 m) to earn 826. He was 2nd in the high jump with a mark of 1.92 m (731). He leads by 126 points heading into tomorrow's final three events.
