Pioneers Finish 2nd at CSAC Championships

The Alfred State men's track & field team finished 2nd at the 2021 CSAC Championships on Saturday at Keystone College.

The Pioneers won four individual titles and one relay on the day. Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) opened the day by winning the 10,000 in 33:55, Cameron Chambers (East Rochester) won the 800 m in 1:58.70, Derek Walter (Lancaster) won the 400 hurdles in 59.39, and Nathan Chambers (East Rochester) won the hammer throw with a toss of 46.12 m. The 4x400 relay team of Corey Seymour (Dryden), Brian Clark (Bethpage), Edward Scroxton (Lakewood/Southwestern), and Shawn Rosa (Middletown) won in 3:27.

Dylan Perlino (Holland) recorded a pair of 2nd place finishes. He was 2nd in the shot put (44.33 m) and 2nd in the hammer throw (46.12 m). Other 2nd place finishers included:

  • Ryan Lohr (West Seneca) was 2nd in the 10,000 (34:27.46)
  • Cooper Buckley (Wellsville) was 2nd in the steeplechase (10:34.96)
  • Scroxton was 2nd in the 1,500 (4:16.18)
  • Rosa was 2nd in the 400 (52.31)
  • Bathgate was 2nd in the 5,000 (16:07.48)
  • The 4x100 relay team of Cameron Howard (Brockport), Rosa, Zach Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville East), and Esaias Brumfield (Warners/West Genesee) was 2nd (44.07)

Penn State Behrend won the CSAC Championships with 342 points followed by Alfred State with 195. Keystone finished 3rd with 54 points.

The Pioneers will next compete on Friday when they travel Roberts Wesleyan for the Redhawks Capstone Meet.
