Men’s Track and Field Finish Second at CSAC Championships

The Alfred State men's track and field team finished the remainder of the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championships on Sunday in Alfred, N.Y.

After a competitive weekend, the Pioneers coaching staff received the honor of Coach of the Year.

After winning both the discus and hammer throw yesterday, Dylan Perlino (Holland) won shot put with a season best 14.27m, an All-Atlantic Regional Qualifying Throw. Perlino was also honored as Field Athlete of the Meet.  

Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) won the 10000-meters run yesterday and proceeded to win the 5000-meters today in 15:47:61 as well as the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:52.43.

Aiden Bonomo (Manalapan) placed 7th in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:32.90.

Derek Walter (Lancaster) placed 3rd in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.78, qualifying him for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Championships.

Walter also won the 400-meter hurdles in an impressive time of 57.27. Kyle Brown (Dryden) placed 3rd in 1:00.61, Ethan Kuhn (Kendall) placed 4th in 1:02.21, and Davyn Gulbrandsen (Rotterdam) placed 6th in 1:07.81.

The Pioneers had four athletes place in the 100-meters race with Zach Rudewicz-Nepokroeff (Williamsville) coming in 3rd in 11.14, Esaias Brumfield (Warners) in 4th in 11.20, Ryan Henderson (Mount Vernon) coming in 6th in 11.26, and Cameron Howard (Brockport) placing 8th in 11.92.

Howard also finished 8th in the 400-meters with a time of 56.17.

In the 200-meters race, Rudewicz-Nepokroeff placed 3rd with a time of 22.57, Brumfield placed 4th in 22.73, and Henderson placing 6th in 23.68.

Brian Clark (Bethpage) placed 3rd in the 800-meters race with a time of 2:03.12. Also Andrew Hvisdak (Hamburg) placed 5th in 2:05.46 while Ja'Mil Horner placed 7th in 2:17.42.

Henderson, Shawn Rosa (Middletown), Rudewicz-Nepokroeff, and Brumfield placed 2nd in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 43.59.

The 4x400-meter relay of Brown, Howard, Brumfield, and Walter placed 3rd in 3:34.20.  

Rudewicz-Nepokroeff placed 3rd in the long jump with a height of 6.57m.

In the high jump competition, Jesse Johnson (Horseheads) placed 3rd with a jump of 1.80m. He also placed 6th in long jump with 6.37m and finished 4th in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.76.

Wilfredo Rodriguez (Middletown) placed 7th in shot put with a distance of 10.07m.

Walter placed 4th in javelin with a distance of 38.41m while Gulbrandsen placed 8th in 31.48m.

The Pioneers compete next Sunday at Nazareth.
