Perlino Breaks Program Discus Record and Taggart Sits in Second In Day One of AARTFC Championships

The Alfred State women's and men's track and field team competed in the first day of the 2022 All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships hosted by Moravian University. 

Dylan Perlino (Holland) won discus while setting a new Alfred State program record with a distance of 52.82. Perlino also set the meet record in discus.

Emma Taggart had an impressive outing in the AARTFC event, sitting in second place in the heptathlon with 2693 points heading into the final day. She is sitting second after finishing 3rd in the heptathlon 100-meter hurdles in 15.63, 2nd in the high jump at 1.55m, 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 10.75m, and 7th in the 200-meters with a time of 27.44. 

Derek Walter (Lancaster) finished 21st in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.27.

The Pioneers will head into the final day on Thursday, May 19.
