Walter Finishes First Career Heptathlon

The Alfred State Men's Track and Field team competed both yesterday and today in the Utica Invitational.

Derek Walter competed in his first career heptathlon which started on Friday night. His seventh-place finish in the event landed him at 10 all time in Alfred State history. Walter's best event performances came in the 60m sprint, 1000m run and the 60m hurdles. He came in third in the 60m sprint, and fourth in the 60m hurdles.

Other top ten finishes for the Pioneers include:

Esaias Brumfield and Nick Florczak both came in the top ten in the 60m sprint events. Brumfield finished fourth in the 60m final event.

Zach Rudewicz-Nepokroeff came in second place in the long jump with a score of 6.44.

The Pioneers are back in action again when the head to Brockport on Friday, Feb 3.
