Softball Falls to Hagerstown

After struggling in the first game, the Alfred State softball team lost a heartbreaker in extra innings in the nightcap.  The Lady Hawks earned 10-1 and 12-11 victories to win the four game series 3-1.

Hagerstown scored seven runs in the 1st inning to take control of the first game.  Katie Jackson (Troy, PA) was 2 for 3 on the game with the lone run scored.

The Lady Pioneers and Lady Hawks traded big innings in the 2nd game.  Alfred scored seven in the 3rd to grab a 9-2 lead but Hagerstown answered with 8th in their half of the inning.  The Hawks led 11-9 before the blue & gold scored a run in the 6th and tied it in the 7th on a Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA) double.

In the extra frame, Hagerstown scored the winner on a throwing error that allowed the winning run to cross the plate.

Alfred collected 17 hits in game two and had seven players finish with multiple hits.  Alyssa Roache (Sherman) led the way with a 3 for 5, 1 RBI day.  Mosier finished 2 for 5 with 3 RBI and Kassi Militello (Akron) was 2 for 4 with a RBI.

The Lady Pioneers have just under two weeks off before heading to Myrtle Beach, SC to take part in Snowbird Softball.
