Lady Pioneers Hit Four Homers but Fall in Final Day in Myrtle

The Alfred State softball team connected on four homers but fell in both games as they wrapped up their schedule at Snowbird Softball in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Lady Pioneers fell 11-3 to Herkimer CCC and then 10-6 to Finger Lakes CC.

In the opener, HCCC collected ten hits and used a five run 4th inning to put the game out of reach.  Rachel Slentz (Edmeston) connected on a two-run homer in the 5th to lead the Pioneer offense.

Versus FLCC, the Lady Pioneers hit homers in each of the first three innings.  Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) hit a solo shot in the 1st, Slentz hit a two-run homer in the 2nd, and Brooke Gustin (Wellsville) hit a solo shot in the 3rd.  Each player now has two homers on the season.

Behind the power surge, the Lady Pioneers held a 6-2 lead after 2.5 innings.  FLCC cut the lead to 6-3 in the 3rd and took the lead with a four-run 5th inning.  They added three more insurance runs in the 6th.

Mosier finished 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, Gustin was 3 for 4 with a RBI, and Claire Hartman (Alden) was 2 for 4 with a RBI.  Kristen Potter (Harrison Valley, PA/Northern Potter) also collected two hits.

The Lady Pioneers return back North and are scheduled to play again on April 2nd when they host Erie CC.
