The Alfred State softball team was tripped up in a WNYAC doubleheader at Niagara CCC on Sunday afternoon, 6-1 and 6-4.
In the opener the Thunderwolves scored four in the first and never looked back. Brook Gustin (Wellsville) was 2 for 3 in the game while Claire Hartman (Alden) drove in the lone run.
Alfred trailed 6-2 heading into the 7th before rallying. The Lady Pioneers scored two and had the tying run on base when the final out was recorded. Katie Jackson (Troy, PA/Troy) led the offense with a 3 for 4 performance.
The Lady Pioneers (4-18) return to action on Tuesday when they begin a busy week with a 3 p.m. home doubleheader vs. Broome CC.
