Lady Pioneers and Eagles Split

Alfred State and Elmira split a pair of contests on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Pioneers won the opener 4-2 and the Lady Soaring Eagles took the nightcap 9-0.

In the opener, Alfred State scored three runs in the 6th to take control of the contest. In the deciding 6th inning Rebecca Hanrahan (Greene) hit a two-run triple to erase a 2-1 deficit. She came around to score on a passed ball.

Hanrahan finished the day 1 for 3 with the 2 RBI and also tossed a complete game seven hitter. She allowed two runs, walked none and struck out three to earn her third win of the season.

Stormi Kruger (Medina) led the offense with a 3 for 4 day while Amanda Rockefeller (Bolivar Richburg) and Claire Hartman (Alden) each collected two hits.

In the nightcap, Elmira scored three runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings. Lura O'Keefe (Allegany Limestone) and Allison Gibson (Arkport) each collected singles in the loss.

Alfred State begins a busy stretch of eight games in four days on Saturday when they battle SUNY Canton at 1 p.m. in a doubleheader.
