Pitt Bradford used big innings as they swept the Alfred State softball team in a Friday afternoon doubleheader, 11-0 and 19-2, at a sun drenched Pioneer Park.
Bradford scored ten runs in the 2nd inning in the 1st game and held the Pioneers to just three hits. Melissa Barber (Nassau/Catholic Central) finished 2 for 2.
Melissa Nye led the Panthers with a 3 for 4, 3 RBI game while Grace Dadzaa and Cassidy Lewis were each 2 for 3.
In the nightcap, the Panthers scored six in the 1st and put the game out reach with 12 in the 5th inning. Trisha Shingleton (Byron Bergen) collected a RBI ground out in the 2nd and Aubri Mosier (Rome, PA) had a RBI fielder's choice in the 5th. Zoe Derr (Elmira Heights/Thomas Edison) was 2 for 3 on the day.
Dadzaa and Nye continued to be hot at the plate. Dadzaa was 4 for 5, 1 RBI while Nyew was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI.
The blue & gold return to action on Monday when they host Elmira in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
