Pioneers Drop Pair

The Alfred State softball team dropped a pair on Thursday as they continued play at the Fastpitch Dreams Classic. The Pioneers fell 15-0 to Pikeville (KY) and 11-0 to Lycoming (PA).

In the opener, the Bears scored 12 runs in the 1st inning and held the Pioneer offense to just one hit, a single by Kylie DeWilde (Midlakes).

Versus Lycoming, the Pioneers outhit the Warriors 6 to 5 but stranded nine runners on base including seven runners in the first three innings. Leading 4-0 heading into the bottom of the 3rd, Lycoming scored three in the inning and added four more in the 4th to put the game out of reach.

Jordan Leonard (Lancaster) led the Pioneers with a 2 for 3 day.

The blue & gold wrap up play in Myrtle Beach on Friday when they take on Rutgers Camden at 11:30 a.m. and Cazenovia at 1:30 p.m.
