Pioneers Fall in Conference Doubleheader

Olean, NY - The Alfred State softball team drop their doubleheader today against Pitt-Bradford which was played at St. Bonaventure University. The Pioneers lost game one 6-1 and lost game two 10-5. The Pios drop to 5-11 overall and 0-4 in AMCC action.

 

In game one, Tiante Murray went 2-3 with one RBI on the day while Caley Larsen, McKinlee Harris, and Olivia Kratts each had a hit as well. 

 

Alfred State was the first on the board in the bottom of the third inning when Murray singled in Adriana Duval. The Panthers responded quickly to tie it up in the fourth and remain tied heading into the fifth. Pitt-Bradford capitalized on several Pioneer errors to grab five runs in the top of the fifth that would go unanswered and lead to the 6-1 loss for Alfred State.

 

In game two, Tiante Murray did a little bit of everything, leading the way with a perfect 3-3 and one RBI. McKinlee Harris led the team with two RBI and went 2-4 at the plate. 

 

The Pioneers started strong, with Lauryn Engle getting them started off a single that plated Audrey Farrell. McKinlee Harris then reached on a fielder's choice with a Murray RBI. Pitt-Bradford responded in the top of the third inning, but Alfred State would take a 3-1 lead in the bottom off a Harris single to plate Murray. In the next two innings, both teams put runs on the board with the Pioneers keeping their lead at 5-4 headed into the sixth. The Panthers tied it up quickly in the top of the sixth and then ran with the scoring momentum to put six runs on the board to hand the Pioneers a 10-5 loss.

 

Alfred State has a quick turnaround as they look to host Morrisville State tomorrow in a doubleheader.
