Swimmers Compete on Day One of Fredonia Invite

The Alfred State swimming team set a few new school NCAA era records on day one of the Fredonia Blue Devil Invitational.

The 800 free relay team of Tim Olin (Perry), Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford), Ethan Dale (Lock Hven, PA), and Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) was 10th and set a new school record with a time of 7:47.62.

The women's 800 free relay team of Lizzy Drake (Lansing), Rachel Caltagirone (Tonawanda), Megan Hendershot (Brockport), and Myriah Perry (Canisteo Greendwood) set a new record by nearly seven seconds. The team was 12th and finished in 9:35.22.

Sporysz set a new school record in the 50 free (23.20) while finishing 18th. Hendershot set a new mark with a 19th place finish in the 1650 free (21:41.39)

Dale was 8th in the 200 IM (2:04.62) and Cutler was 13th in the 1650 free (18:17.05).

The Pioneer men sit in 8th place after day one with 43 points while the women are 9th with 20 points.

Day two action begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday with preliminary heats and continues at 5 p.m. with the finals.
