Kemsley Wins Shot Put at Houghton

Paul Kemsley (Lancaster) led the way for the Alfred State indoor track & field team by winning the shot put at the Houghton College Highlander Invitational on Friday evening.

Kemsley won the title in the shot put with a toss of 13.43 m. His toss was .4 m further than the second place finisher. Kemsley also finished 5th place in the weight throw with a throw of 14.14 m.

Anders Presthus (Ithaca/Lansing) was 4th in the shot put (14.46 m) and Dylan Perlino (Holland) was 6th (12.82 m). Bradley Marshall (Jordan Elbridge) was 12th in the shot put (10.63 m) and Perlino was 14th (10.37 m). Andrew Ruebenstahl (Washingtonville) was 8th in the pole vault (3.80 m), Tim Berry (Midlakes) was 13th in the long jump.

Sophie Gonzalez led the women's team with a 4th place finish in the 300 m (44.20) and a 7th place finish in the 60 m (8.21). Gonzalez ran a 8.17 in her preliminary heat to qualify for the finals.

In the 600 m, the Lady Pioneers took 14th, 15th, and 16th place. Cassidy McCourt (Buffalo/Emerson) was 14th (2:07.29), Katherine Frascella (Franklinville) was 15th (2:06.65), and Olivia Leonti (Port Byron) was 16th (2:09.15).

The blue & gold are back in action next Saturday at Edinboro.
