Lady Pioneers Win Regular Season Finale

The Alfred State women's basketball team wrapped up the 2012-13 regular season with a 44-34 victory over Jamestown CC. The Lady Pioneers head to the Region III Division II playoffs with a 18-7 (8-2 RIII DII) record.
Neither team could muster much offense. Alfred shot just 25.8% from the field while JCC shot only 19.3%. Alfred jumped out early and led 25-12 at the half.
Karley Fanning (Rochester/Bishop Kearney) came off the bench and led the Pioneers with 13. Haley Witchella (Oxford Academy) narrowly missed a triple-double and finished with 10 points, 22 rebounds, and nine blocks. Destiny Brito (Manhattan/Park West) chipped in nine points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists.
Kelsie Beaver led JCC with nine points and 11 boards while Ashley DePane added eight points and six rebounds. Taylor Storer chipped in six points, eight steals, and six boards.
The blue & gold will be the #2 seed in next week's Region III Division II Tournament. They will receive a bye in the 1st round. They will play the #3 seed next Saturday in the semifinals at the Flickenger Center in downtown Buffalo.
