Turnovers Hurt Lady Pioneers in Road Loss

The Alfred State women's basketball team turned the ball over 28 times in a 67-50 loss at Mercyhurst North East on Tuesday evening.  The Lady Pioneers are now 5-10 on the year while MNE improves to 11-7.

Brea Forney came off the bench and led the Lady Saints with 18 points.  Sabrina Montgomery finished with eight points and 10 rebounds and Kashawnna Sampson finished with eight points. 13 different Mercyhurst players scored in the contest.

Helena Covington (Elmira Free) and Marcedes Caver (Cleveland, OH) led the Lady Pioneers with 13 points each.  Covington also grabbed nine rebounds.  Briana Meehan (Whitesville) finished with 11 points and seven boards.

Mercyhurst led 34-25 behind their hot shooting from beyond the three-point arc.  The Saints hit 7 three-pointers in the 1st half and finished with 10 made three for the game.

The Lady Pioneers are back at it again on Thursday when they travel to Pitt-Titusville for a 6 p.m. rematch with the Panthers.
