Lady Pioneers Tripped up by Potsdam

SUNY Potsdam jumped out to an early lead and never gave it up in a 54-44 victory over Alfred State in an opening day of the SUNY Canton Tournament. The Bears led 24-13 at the end of the 1st and 35-21 at half. 

Hannah Carlson (Lynbrook) led the Lady Pioneers with 10 points off the bench. Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) chipped in nine points and 10 rebounds. Alfred State struggled shooting on the day. They finished shooting 29.1% from the field and 40% from the foul line.

Alfred State outscored Potsdam 23-19 in the 2nd half but never got closer than six points.

Secret Clark led the Bears with 22 points and eight rebounds. Laura Coleman came off the bench and chipped in nine. Potsdam shot just 28.8% from the field and 36% from the foul line but collected 26 steals.

The blue & gold are back in action on tomorrow at Noon when they battle Cazenovia in the second day of the Canton Tourney.
