Big 2nd Quarter Lifts SUNY Poly

SUNY Poly outscored Alfred State 31-14 in the 2nd quarter as they earned a 69-56 victory on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats improve to 4-4 on the year.

SUNY Poly held a slight 15-13 lead after one quarter and the game was tied at 25-25 with 3:41 remaining in the half. The Wildcats then went on a 21-2 run to take control of the game. Alfred State outscored SUNY Poly 29-23 in the 2nd half.

Kimberly Levee (Dansville) led the Lady Pioneers with 13 points while Hannah Carlson (Lynbrook) hit four 3-pointers and finished with 12. Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) finished with eight points and 10 boards while Jackie Lieb (Hornell) chipped in eight.

Paige Gallo led SUNY Poly with 22 points and eight boards while Geena Gallo had 20 points and 16 rebounds. Emily Alicea added 12 points.

The Lady Pioneers shot only 28.2% for the game, 33.3% from three, and 53.3% from the foul line while the Lady Wildcats shot 43.9% from the field, 36.4% from three, and 44.1% from the line.

The blue & gold are back at it on Wednesday when they travel to Hilbert for a 8 p.m. tip-off.
