Gleaton Nets 14 at Hilbert

Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) led Alfred State with 14 points as the Lady Pioneers fell 61-52 to Hilbert on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks used a 18-10 advantage in the 3rd quarter to pull out the victory.

Alfred State led 16-15 after the 1st quarter but Hilbert took a 33-32 advantage into the break. Joselyn Johnson (Geneva) hit a jumper with 5:38 remaining in the 3rd to give the Lady Pioneers a 40-39 lead before the Hawks went on a 12-2 run to end the quarter. Hilbert never let the blue & gold closer than six the rest of the way.

Gleaton was 7 for 13 from the field for her 14 points. She also grabbed six boards. Johnson finished with six points and seven boards while Steffanie Preston (Groton) and Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) each chipped in five.

The Lady Pioneers shot 33.3% from field, connected on 4 of 15 three-point attempts, and hit all four of their foul shots. Hilbert held a decisive 48-32 advantage on the boards.

Shannon Rogers led the Hawks with 14 points and 13 rebounds while Kelsi Ebert chipped in 13. Katelyn Proy had 12 points and 12 boards. Hilbert shot 41.4% on the day, 4 for 18 from three, and hit 9 of their 14 foul shot attempts.

Alfred State makes their 2016 home debut on Saturday when they host Carlow University at Noon.
