Bengals Pull Away Late

Maine Fort Kent broke open a close contest with a big 4th quarter. The Bengals led by only six, 53-47, heading into the final quarter but used a dominant final frame to race to the 79-49 victory. 

Alfred State shot 48.5% from the field in the 1st half and trailed by only five, 39-34 at halftime. The Lady Pioneers cooled off and shot only 20% in the in the 2nd half while the Bengals continued to should over 40%. UMFK finished the day shooting 42.7% (35 for 82).

Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) led the Lady Pioneers with 12 points and eight boards. Kimberly Levee (Dansville) came off the bench and scored nine while Steffanie Preston (Groton) added eight points.

Samantha Carapellucci led five Lady Bengals in double-figures with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Romanalyn Inocencio finished with 15 points and seven assists, Ericka Saucier had a double-double with 14 points and 13 boards, and Ahjana Coleman chipped in 12 off the bench.

The Lady Pioneers hit the road on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. contest at SUNY Canton.
