Lady Pioneers Dominate Paint in Victory over SUNY Canton

The Alfred State women's basketball team scored 46 points in the paint as they defeated SUNY Canton 77-57 on Wednesday evening. The Lady Pioneers outscored the Kangaroos 46-20 in the paint on day and held a 64-47 advantage on the boards.

Alfred State led 18-11 after the 1st quarter and continued the pressure in the 2nd quarter. The Lady Pioneers led 35-17 at the break and never let SUNY Canton back in the game. Alfred State led for the final 38:20 in the game and held a lead as big as 26 points in the 4th quarter.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) had her first career double-double. She was 9 for 14 from the field for a game-high 20 points. She also grabbed 10 boards. Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) finished with 15 points and nine rebounds.  Kimberly Levee (Dansville) chipped in 14 points.

Karyss Terrance led Canton with 16 points while Tatiana Laroche had a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Alfred State shot 34.5% from the field while hold Canton to just 25.8%. 23 of the Lady Pioneers 64 rebounds were on the offensive glass.

The blue & gold host Davis College on Saturday. Opening tip-off is slated for Noon.
