Lady Pioneers Race Past Knights

The Alfred State women's basketball team used a huge 2nd quarter as they raced past Central Penn 69-36 on Thursday evening. The Lady Pioneers outscored the Knights 23 to 3 in the 2nd.

The blue & gold led 13-9 after the 1st quarter before their big 2nd quarter that made it 36-12 at the break. The Lady Pioneers led by 37 in the game.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond), Joselyn Johnson (Geneva), and Steffanie Preston (Groton) all scored in double-figures. Bialecki led the way with 19 points, eight boards, four blocks, four steals, and four assists. Johnson was 7 for 10 from the line and had 14 points and Preston finished with 11. Breana Gleaton (Waldorf, MD) came off the bench and had eight points.

The Lady Pioneers shot 42.1% from the field and held a 38 to 31 advantage on the boards.

Jade Adams led Central Penn with 16 points while Melissa Ruiz added 10. The Knights shot 27.1% from the field on the game.

Alfred State is back in action on Sunday when they hos tMaine Fort Kent. Tip-off is slated for Noon.
