Three's Lift Blue & Gold

The Alfred State women's basketball team connected on 10 three-pointers as they defeated Pratt Institute 69-50 on Friday evening. The blue & gold are now 8-5 on the year.

Kimberly Levee (Dansville) connected on three of Alfred State's five three-pointers in the 1st quarter as the Pioneers built an early 23-17 lead. The blue & gold added to their lead and led 35-22 at half and led by 20, 55-35 after three quarters.

Catherine Bialecki (Alfred Almond) recorded another double-double with 16 points and 17 boards. Levee connected on five three-pointers on the day and finished with 15 points. Steffanie Preston (Groton) and Kelly Kane (Wellsville) both finished with eight.

The Pioneers shot 33.7% from the field, hit 10 of their 23 three-point attempts, and forced the Cannoneers into 29 turnovers.

Amissa Epperson led Pratt with 20 points and 17 boards while Emily Guerra chipped in 15 points and 10 rebounds. Anna Bryce added 13. The Cannoneers shot only 27.3% from the field, 15.4% from three, and 54.5% from the foul line.

The blue & gold are right back at it tomorrow afternoon when they battle Berkeley College at 1 p.m.
