St. John Fisher came out on fire as they hit five 3-pointers in the 1st quarter as they defeated the Alfred State 58-43 on Friday evening.
Elle Lazore hit three 3-pointers and Erin Hulbert hit a pair of three's in the 1st quarter as Fisher jumped out to a 26-8 lead. Alfred State settled down and outscored the Cardinals 11-8 in the 2nd half and trailed 34-19 at the break. Both teams scored 24 points in the 2nd half.
Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) came off the bench and led Alfred State with 10 points and added eight boards. Emily Kelley (Wellsville) had nine points and 11 rebounds while Janae Gibson (Bronx/Pelham Prep) finished with eight points and 11 boards.
Hulbert led the Cardinals (5-2) with 14 while Mallory Wood finished with 10 points and seven boards. Nine of the 11 Cardinals that saw action scored.
The blue & gold are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Utica for a 2 p.m. contest with the Pioneers.
