Davis scores 23 points, Pena double-doubles in win over Mt. Aloysius

My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) scored 23 points with four assists and Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) recorded 14 points and 12 rebounds in the Alfred State women's basketball 71-59 win over Mt. Aloysius on Saturday at the Athletic Convocation & Wellness Center in Cresson, PA.

The Pioneers improve to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in the AMCC while the Mounties fall to 1-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference. Alfred State out-rebounded Mt. Aloysius 52-33 and were 40.9% from the floor including 68.4% in free throws.

Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City) had 14 points and eight rebounds, Skylar Shaulis (South Seneca) had 10 points and Emily Kelley (Andover) added 12 rebounds and three steals.

The Mounties out-scored the Pioneers 10-9 in the first quarter but Alfred State held Mt. Aloysius to just 11 points in the second quarter while they put up 21 points.

The second half proved to be more competitive with the Pioneers out-hooping the Mounties 41-38.

Alfred State is back home Saturday, Dec. 18 to host AMCC foe Hilbert at 1 p.m.
