Kelley Double-Doubles in Penn State-Behrend Loss

Emily Kelley (Andover) recorded her eighth double-double of the season in the Alfred State women's basketball 74-49 loss to the Penn State-Behrend Lions Wednesday evening inside Junker Center Gym.

The Pioneers move to 7-6 overall and 4-2 in the AMCC while the Lions improve to 14-2 overall and 8-0 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 25% in field goals, 64.3% in free throws, picked up 48 rebounds but had 23 turnovers while Penn State-Behrend was 41% in field goals, 66.7% in free throws, had 54 rebounds and scored 17 points off turnovers.

Kelly led the team with 10 points, 13 rebounds and two assists. Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City) added ten points and seven rebounds, Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) chipped in nine points and seven rebounds, Skylar Shaulis (South Seneca) had nine points and five rebounds and Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) scooped up eight rebounds.

The first quarter was close with Alfred State only trailing by two points, 13-11, but the Lions scored double the Pioneers in the second, 24-12, to head into halftime up 37-23.

Penn State-Behrend out-scored Alfred State 23-16 in the third quarter and held the Pioneers to just 10 points in the fourth. The Lions took their largest lead of 27 points in the final quarter.

The women are back in action on Monday, Jan. 24 to play AMCC opponent La Roche at 6 p.m. in Pennsylvania.
