The Alfred State women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start and fell 63-37 at La Roche on Saturday.
Faith McCombs (Amityville, NY/Copaigue) led Alfred State with 14 points and nine rebounds. Taylor Benjamin (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) finished with six, Jenna George (Dansville, NY/Dansville) added five, and Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City, NY/Johnson City) added nine boards.
ASC shot only 30.2% from the field for the game and were forced into 26 turnovers.
Makayla Abram led La Roche with 20 points while Machia Hairston recorded a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers are back on the court on Wednesday when they take on Pitt-Bradford at 7 p.m.
