Wrestlers Open up Season at Ithaca

The Alfred State wrestling team opened up the 2012-13 season competing at the competitive Ithaca Invitational over the weekend. The Pioneers finished 9th in the two-day competition.

Josh Lord (Owego Free) was the lone Pioneer to earn a pin in the competition as he pinned Christopher Brothers (Oswego) in a 4:09 in a consolation match. Lord finished 1-2 in the 165 lb. weight class.

Tyler White (Bennington, VT) also earned a victory in the 165 lb. weight class as he defeated Vincent Silano (Springfield College) 9-6 in a consolation match. White also finished 1-2 in the competition.

Alfred finished with four points in the competition. Johnson & Wales won the team title with 177 points with Ithaca finishing 2nd with 168.

The Pioneers open up the dual portion of their season on Wednesday when they host Jamestown CC at 7 p.m.
