Pioneers Fall to Brockport in Home Meet
The Pioneers had a home match against SUNY Brockport and lost 32-10.
The Pioneers had a few standouts from today's match:
Sean Peterson (Islip, NY / Islip) won with an overtime decision. He was down 3-0 after round two, before coming back with a three-point third round. In overtime Peterson came on top ending the match with a takedown.
Justin Smith (Rushville, NY / Marcus Whitman) also won with an overtime decision. With a close contest throughout, Smith showed heart as he fought back against some early momentum against him.
Sean Malenfant (Averill Park, NY / Averill Park) has been dominant all season. The Pioneers best bout of the day came from Malenfant's major decision victory.
Johnny Layfield (Wellsville, NY / Wellsville) ended the Pioneer day with an exhibition bout. Layfield won with an overtime decision, ending the Blue and Gold's day on a high note.
The Pioneers are on the mat again on January 7, at the AMCC Quad Meet.
