Pioneers Crowned at Inaugural AMCC Championship

The Alfred State Wrestling team competed today at the AMCC championships. The Pioneers were crowned the first ever team champions of the AMCC. From beginning to end it was all Pioneers. The Pioneers scored 136 team points, over two times the amount of second place Pitt.- Bradford.

The Pioneers won 8 individual weight classes. The only two weights the Pioneers didn't win were 165 and the heavyweight division.

Mason Drew (125): won his championship with a pinfall in 5:39.

Zachary Levey (133): Took the win over teammate Elijah Moshenek in a medical forfeit to crown Levey champion.

Sean Peterson (141): Won by pinfall in 2:49 over a Hiram College opponent.

 Dom Vinci (149): defeated teammate Ethan Morrison in a 7-4 decision win.

Anthony Miraglia (157): Took a victory by medical forfeit against teammate Justin Smith.

Johnny Layfield (174): Layfield defeated teammate Justin Hoffman by pinfall in the championship bout.

Sean Malenfant (184): Won in a first round pinfall against a rival Penn.- St. Behrend wrestler.

Blake Ilges (197): Won by a 5-1 decision against Nathan Powley from Pitt.- Bradford.

The first ever AMCC conference title meet was dominated by the Pioneers in a strong team and individual showing.

The Pioneers head to the Mideast Regional Championships on February 25.
