Bio

Michael McCabe enters his first season at Alfred State in 2020-21 as he has been brought on by Head Coach Signorelli to serve as the program's head assistant coach.

McCabe, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of the sport to the program, will assist the program primarily in the areas of daily practices, travel, recruiting and other team operations. McCabe’s most recent collegiate coaching experience was serving as an assistant coach under Signorelli during the 2017-18 season while at SUNY Ulster CC, a year in which Ulster qualified a school record five wrestlers for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament and crowned the programs first ever North East District individual champion.

McCabe is a 2014 graduate of SUNY Ulster where he earned his Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. Since earning his degree he has been working full time as a Vet-Tech and is currently employed by the Midtown Veterinary Hospital working in both their Rochester and Dansville locations. Prior to attending SUNY Ulster, McCabe was a student-athlete at SUNY Cortland spending a season as a member of their NCAA football program and two years playing as a starter for their intercollegiate rugby club. 

A 2009 graduate of Highland High School, McCabe was a standout athlete. He served as a team captain for the football, wrestling and baseball teams. On the mat, he twice earned All-Section honors finishing 3rd in 2008 and 2009 at the Section 9 Division 2 Championships. During his senior year he compiled 34 wins and was a MHAL Tournament finalist. McCabe also earned 2nd team All-State honors for Class B Linebackers and his and Signorelli’s team won the Section 9 Class B football championship.
