Michayla Salatel looks for room

Pioneers Win Sixth Straight

Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) netted a hat trick in the 2nd half as the Alfred State women's soccer team won their sixth straight match, 3-1 over Hilbert. The blue & gold are now 10-3 on the year.

After a scoreless 1st half in which the Pioneers held a 5 to 0 shot advantage, Salatel got the blue & gold on the board in the 58th minute after getting a nice pass that led to a 1 on 1 opportunity with the keeper. Salatel made it 2-0 just under four minutes later when she scored after her first shot after a corner kick was saved.

Kayela Perkins cut the lead in half in the 64th minute when she netted a shot after the ball got loose in front of the Pioneer net.

Salatel answered right back to complete her hat trick after getting a long lead pass from Brooke Geibel (Arkport). Salatel now has a team high 11 goals on the season.

The blue & gold held a 14 to 2 shot advantage in the contest. Allison Danielak (Brockport) won her 10th game, and 30th career, in net.

The 10 wins by Alfred State is the most by a women's soccer team since the 2013 season.

The Pioneers wrap up the regular season next Tuesday when they host Houghton on Halloween. Senior Day fesitivities will take place prior to the 6 p.m. start.
