Pioneers Highlight All-ACAA Women's Soccer team
Six members of the ACAA Champion Alfred State women's soccer team have been honored with All-ACAA 1st team selection. On top of being named 1st team, Michayla Salatel (Geneseo) was named co-Player of the Year, Jocelyn Brittingham (Hornell) was named Defensive Player of the Year, Allison Danielak (Brockport) was named Goalkeeper of the Year, and Head Coach Anne Holmok was named Coach of the Year.
Salatel shares Player of the Year honors with Madison Rowe and Rebecca DiNardo of SUNY Canton. Salatel led the Pioneers with 13 goals and 31 points this season. Her 13 goals was 2nd in the conference and her 31 points was tops in the conference. Salatel scored four game winning goals including the game-winner in both contests this past weekend at the ACAA Tournament.
Brittingham was one of the key members of the Pioneers defense that recorded nine shutouts this season and held opponents to just 10 goals.
Danielak was in the Pioneers net for 1,285 of the teams 1,440 minutes of action this season. She finished with a 12-4 overall record, a 0.63 goals against average, and 65 saves. She recorded seven solo shutouts (three by a 1-0 score) and was part of two other shutouts. She finished the season with a .878 save percentage.
Chloe Cox (Tucson, AZ), Melissa Mineti (Livonia), and Dannielle O'Buckley (Jamaica/Ansbach) also were named 1st team All-ACAA.
- Cox played in all 16 games this season and scored twice and passed out three assists from defensive position. She was key on the team's corner kicks and free kicks. Cox was named the ACAA Tournament MVP after her solid effort this past weekend.
- Minetti registered 19 points this season from her forward position. Known for her speed, she netted six goals and passed out seven assists while only recording 26 shots on the year. Her seven assists were a team high.
- O'Buckley also finished the season with 19 points. She scored eight goals and passed out three assists on the season from her midfield position. Two of her goals were game-winners,
Holmok was recognized by his peers as the Coach of the Year. She led the Pioneers to the ACAA Championship with a 2-0 win over SUNY Canton Sunday. The Pioneers finished the season with a 12-4 record and won eight of its final nine matches of the season. The 12 victories was the most since 2013.
