The Alfred State Women's Soccer team fell 3-0 to Penn St.- Altoona in their first conference match of the year.
After surrendering three goals in the first half, the Pioneers had a very strong second half. The best scoring chance came from Jena Schelble (Boston, N.Y. / Springville) when she put a shot off the crossbar on a free kick from just outside the box.
Alfred State put five shots on goal, Lauren Bondgren (Avon, NY / Avon) and Madison Kice (Canadensis, PA / Pocono Mountain East) led with two each.
The Pioneers are back in action on October 8, as they travel to Pitt.- Greensburg for a conference match.
